McIntyre Wild Area

The McIntyre Wild Area is 7,279 acres located in the Loyalsock State Forest District McIntyre wild area is bordered on the south by Rock Run and on the west side by Lycoming Creek and Ralston PA. The area posts four different watersheds that all flow into the Lycoming Creek. At one point in it’s history McIntyre Wild area was known as the town of Mcintyre and mining was carried on largely until about 1886, with the mine output sometimes exceeding 200,000 tons annually, when the mines were found to be running low, and it was decided to cease operations and go elsewhere.
